.Equally comfortable with classical and twentieth century vocal repertoire, Elizabeth Reiter has garnered critical acclaim in Chicago, New York and London for the clarity, purity and surprising richness of her voice. She created the role of Young Maria Celeste in Goodman Theatre’s 2002 World Premiere production of Philip Glass’ opera Galileo Galilei under the direction of Tony Award winner Mary Zimmerman. She reprised the role of Galileo’s young daughter in New York at the Brooklyn Academy of Music and in London at the Barbican Centre.
She most recently sang the role of Flora in Chicago Opera Theater’s production of Benjamin Britten’s The Turn of the Screw, conducted by Jane Glover and directed by Diane Paulus. She also returned to the Goodman Theatre as Polyxena in Mary Zimmerman’s staging of Seneca’s The Trojan Women, performing an aria composed by Philip Glass. Elizabeth will be a featured performer this summer in Kiss the Speaker Wire, the newest production from Yes is a World.
